Population (1 Jan 2003): 36.114; area: 146,03 km²; Settlements: Venray (seat), Castenray, Heide, Leunen, Merselo, Oirlo, Oostrum, Smakt, Veulen, Vredepeel, Ysselsteyn.
Flag description: “a white over blue hoist and a blue over white fly, with at the dividing point two crossed keys, the bit turned upwards and pointing resp. to hoist and fly; on blue of white and on white of black, with in the tophalf an escutcheon, divided of blue and white, and in the bottomhalf an opened beehive, divided of white and blue."
Adopted 25 Jun 1979 by municipal resolution; design: Stichting Banistiek en Heraldiek.
The colors blue and white are derived from the municipal arms, which is divided as follows: top silver and bottom blue. These are also the main volors of the flag.
The crossed keys are black/white and are also from the CoA, referring to St. Peter, patron saint of the St. Petrus Bandenkerk.
The escutcheon (top) and beehive (bottom) are derived from the municipal arms.
