The largest ethnic group in the Malaysian state of
Sabah (northern Borneo) constituting about 54 % of the total population and
numbering @ 755 000. Some Dusuns live also in Brunei Darussalam. Ethnically, the
combined collection of closely related ethnic and linguistic groups known as
Kadazandutsun are related to the Moros of the southern Philippines, but
historically and religiously they are distinct. Majority of Kadazandusuns are
Christian with smaller numbers of Muslims and animists. There is a serious
conflict between the government of Malaysia and Kadazandusuns about the policy
of preferences for Muslims, immigration, altering the ethnic composition of the
state, and unfulfilled promises for greater autonomy for the natives.

James B.Minahan (Encyclopedia of the Stateless Nations - Ethnic and
National Groups Around the World - volume II) shows and describes the flag as
"The Kadazan flag, the flag of the national movement, is a vertical tricolor of
blue, white and red."
Just like France. I couldn't find any other evidence to
corroborate this claim.

"The United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (UPKO) is a
political party based in Sabah, east Malaysia. It is an
ethnically-based party striving to voice the rights and advance the
development of Kadazan-Dusun and Murut population of Sabah.
The party started as "Parti Demokrat Sabah" (PDS), which was founded by
Bernard Giluk Dompok and other leaders who branched out from Parti
Bersatu Sabah (PBS) soon after the State Election in 1994. Later it was
renamed UPKO.
This new UPKO has no relation with the original United Pasok Momogun
Kadazan Organization (also known by the acronym UPKO), which was formed
in May 1964, by a combination of the Pertubuhan Kebangsaan Kadazan
Bersatu (United Kadazan National Organisation - UNKO, originally
founded by the first Chief Minister of Sabah, Dato Donald Stephans in
August 1961), and the Pertubuhan Pasok Momogun Bersatu (United Pasok
Momogun Organisation, formed in January 1962 by Orang Kaya Kaya Datuk
G. S. Sundang).
UPKO is one of the component parties in the ruling Barisan Nasional
(BN) coalition. The name of the new UPKO includes the words
"Kadazandusun" and "Murut", and the logo is no longer a water buffalo
but a silhouette of Mount Kinabalu. It is also believed by many
political observers that the "Kadazandusun nationalism" which was
apparent in the old UPKO is not really present in the new UPKO."
Mount Kinabalu (4,095 m) is the tallest mountain in Malaysia and the
third tallest in Southeast Asia. It is also shown on the state flag of
Sabah.

The largest Kadazandusun organization - KDCA - (Kadazandusun Cultural
Association Sabah) whose chairman, Huguan Siou Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitingan, is
considered the Paramount Leader of the Kadazandusun Nation (buguan siou) has a
flag of its own, which I managed to reconstruct. It is yellow with the
association's shield shifted toward the hoist.
KDCA website is at
