Some days ago a documentary in TVE2 (Spain) about Malaysia and its navy, customs, etc., showed some lesser known flags, including the blue ensign: blue with national flag in canton, proportion 1:2 and the customs and excise department flag. There was also a dark blue pennant with a white inscription KASTAM (Customs), in the bow of some ships surrounded by fast interception ships.

The interception ships showed a flag light blue with black diagonal band fimbriated white, hoisted in the mainmast.

A photograph at the following site:

regarding an anti-piracy and rescue demonstration by the Royal Malaysian Police
Marine Unit shows a similar flag hoisted on a Customs vessel but in different
colours. From the upper fly to the lower hoist (if I see the colours correctly),
the flag is composed of a light blue triangle, a yellow fimbriation, a black
band, a white fimbriation, and a green triangle. It seems to correspond to the
vessel's flash sign appearing at the side of the vessel. I'm not sure what the
flag is (Customs ensign?). Perhaps something similar to
Hong Kong's Water Police flag?

The caption of the relevant photograph (the eighth

Department."
