António Martins asked: The background to this sword are the national arms, aren't they? Is Dobele a very important place?
According to <www2.dobele.lv>, the red field with silver brush and sword sybolizes heroic batles of Semigalls in the past.

António Martins asked: Was the fess on the shield made silver in purpose? Or should it be white like in the municipal flag?
No, this is my supposition. Standard according to document on <www2.dobele.lv> should be in size 14x28 cm (table format) and silver is also used on flag cloth. In this case I used silver in the arm too.
