Overview

Batakiai (Taurage District) - on a silver field with a red rayonny terrace a rising silver armed black bear with red tongue holding a red club. Flag proportions 10:11, finial is a silver knob with a ring. The bear means Samogitia, the club means the desperate fight against the Teutonic Order, and flames mean the suffering for freedom. In the late 13th century the important Aukakaimis castle was located there, and the Teutonic Order attacked it many times till 1305, when the castle was finally burnt and the whole land was deserted.
