agare city is in Joniskis district in Siauliai county,
Lithuania. It has a population of 2,169, and is center of Zagare
Eldership, which has additional 2,000 inhabitants.

"The foundation of Žagarė dates back to the 12th century.
It was an important center of Žiemgaliai warriors, who fought
against the Teutonic Order. Today Žagarė is the administrative
center of the Žagarė Regional Park, known for its valuable
urban and natural heritage."
