Overview

Kriukai (Joniskis District - not to be confused with another Kriukai town in Sakiai District) - on yellow field red pale (yellow-red-yellow 1-2-1) with golden wrought cross. Flag proportions 5:6, finial is golden knob. The wrought cross symbolizes old traditions of blacksmith (the local folk etymology even originates the name of town from Kriukis, the ancient god of smiths) and the very original crosses crafted by smiths of Kriukai. The Lithuanian cross-crafting was among the first 19 masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritage of mankind, declared by UNESCO.
