The flag represents the Korean characters representing fertile soil,

Heart, yellow represents three special factors in Okchon, as general symbol.

The upper waters of the Kem river flows 66km form the south to the north. It begins from Mt. Tekyu in Moojugun Chanlabuk-do, and from Mt, Sogli in Poun.

The traffic of this county belongs to both Kyongbu Railroad, which links from Seoul to Pusan, and a national road which runs from Kunbuk-myeon to Iwon -myeon, via Okchon-eup. There is an expressway in it which makes the people do a daily life on national scale, it runs 26.5km from the north to the south, via Okchon-eup, Dongi-myeon, and Chongsong-myeon from Kunbuk-myeon.
