White stylized Kanji character of Ishikawa on light blue field. Light blue stands for Japan sea, clear air and pure river water. Adopted 1 October 1972.

Prefectural Flag : Graphic design of the characters for "Ishikawa" on a blue background. The blue background represents the natural elements of the Japan sea, the rich nature and clean water, and clear air that bless Ishikawa.

The flag has a white prefecture symbol on a ocean blue background. The construction sheet has the blue color as 5B 5/12 in Munsell. Not much is said of the height of the prefecture symbol, but the flag ratio is given as 31:44.
