Description of the flag

The emblem is stylized Kanji character of Iwa of Iwate which symbolizes advanced progress. Adopted 1965-03-06.

The prefecture website says the background of the flag is a forest green.

Morioka / 盛岡市

The city flag was adopted on Oct 23rd 1996 by Prefecture Notice No 350.

The green flag charged with white city emblem in the center. The flag proportion 2:3.

The city emblem is two diamonds intersected in a right angle. The diamond was the family crest of the former lord of Nambu Clan.
