Description of the flag

White fringed red 7 points star on blue field. Blue represents sea and sky of Hokkaido, red stands for people's energy and white for light and snow. Star stands for hope and development. Adopted 1967-05-01.

I recently located the website of the Hokkaido Government, which talks about the symbols of Hokkaido. The website (all Japanese), lists the colors and dimensions of the Hokkaido flag. The main focus is that the symbol of Hokkaido is 10/14th's the hoist of the flag. The colors are provided in different formats, such as Munsell and CMYK.

Adopted on March 5th 2003. The dark blue flag with gold fringe is charged with a gold sun and rays in white diamond as a Hokkaido Police emblem and with its name in gold lower fly.
