In the Indonesian Army Museum in Jakarta (July 2007) was a flag display
(showing the real flag and a painted picture). The Sulawesi independence flag is
from Aug 7th 1953, the Sulawesi self-proclaimed independence. The flag is
2: 3 flag in proportion, a red field charged with a yellow crescent and three 5
pointed stars in the canton.

(among others I presume) in the early 1960s.
