Posedarje is a community in the Zadar County, about 20 km due
east of Zadar, at the coast of the
Novigrad sea - a large bay entering the mainland from the north
with a tight gorge at Maslenica. About 3,500 inhabitants, about
1,300 in a small town of the same name. Among the other
settlements, notable, at least for its name are Islam Latinski
and Islam Grcki (menaning the Latin Islam and the Greek Islam),
although the latter is in the territory of the city of Benkovac today. The two
"Islams" were rebuilt as a new settlement after the
Turks have conquered it and received name "Seed Islam"
(the Bulwark of Islam) being the westermost place where the
Turkish rule got in these areas. After the area was liberated
from Turks, the part of the very depopulated village was setlled
by Catholics (mostly Vlahs), and the other part was given to an
orthodox noble family (Jankovic) who setlled there some of their
own men. Therefore the two villages got the unusual names.
The coat of arms of Posedarje is: azure a goose argent crowned
and gorged with a medalion pendant or beaked gules issuant from a
crown also or gemmed gules.
It was designed by the Rijeka company Heraldic Art d.o.o who
designed the majority of modern Croatian municipal coat of arms.
It must have been adopted between 2002 and 2006.
I have seen it use as a road sign on the borders where roads
enter the community (beside the local roads, the new modern A1
highway from Zagreb to Zadar and further to Split passes though
Posedarje community over the bridge of Maslenica), but for the
time being I have not seen the flag anywhere.

Tomislav ipek recently pointed me out to this news item at
the Ministry of Sea, transportation and Infrastructure, where the
flag of Posedarje is clearly visible on a photo: "Ministar
Kalmeta otvorio novu osnovnu kolu u Ninu i potpisao ugovor
o izgradnji vodoopskrbnog sustava u Podgradini", 28.11.2008.
Ministarstvo mora, prometa i infrastrukture.
The flag is dark blue with the coat of arms bordered yellow in
the middle.
