Obrovac is a city in the Zadar County, at the confluence of
Zrmanja river into the Adriatic sea, at the nothern border of
traditional Dalmatia, just south of the high slopes of sothern
end of the Velebit mountain range. Population just under 3,400
inhabitants, some 1,000 in the city itself, although the
neighbouring village of Kruevo is larger by population
counting almost 1,100.
During the 20th century, until 1990's somewhat over 60% of
population were Serbs, but today they consist only some 13%.
While the city was mostly Serb populated, Kruevo and a few
other villages were Croat populated.
Until 1997 Obrovac had the status of a community, when it was
upgraded to the city status.
The Coat of Arms is shown (very small indeed) at the official web site where there
is also the Statutes of 2009 describing the Coat of Arms and the
flag (although they must have been adopted at least before 2004,
when the Coat of Arms appeared on the web site <www.obrovac.com>).
The Coat of Arms of Obrovac is: gules a goat rampant argent next
to the hornbeam tree eradicated vert fructed or.
I believe the hornbeam is Carpinus betulus, native to
the region. Goats were traditionally herded in the region of
sparse vegetation among whihc the horbeam is notable.
The flag is blue (the text of the Statutes call it the
"indigo blue") with the coat of arms bordered yellow in
the middle of it.
It is probable that there is also a ceremonial flag, but we need
a better proof of that.
The symbols were designed, as it appears, by the Heraldic Art
company of Rijeka.

The ceremonial flag appears as a table flag on the picture
available at <www.obrovac.hr>.

Tomislav ipek just pointed me out to <www.obrovacportal.net>
where the coat of arms is finally shown clear enough for drawing.
