Overview

The coat of arms is Azure, on a tripple Mount Vert a Crescent Argent and a Mullet Or. The flag is light blue with the coat of arms in the middle. The photo shows the vertical flag, with noticeable small coat of arms, hoisted beside the flags of Croatia and the County. Horizontal flag is shown here with coat of arms of larger size, but without confirmation. The crescent is reported with the facial lines drown on it, too, but the photo does not allow the quality to reproduce those. Until 1997 Ludbreg had the status of a community. There is a legend regarding Ludbreg to be the center of the world, as there are several European capitals that are situated on concentric circles around Ludbreg. Adopted: around 1995 (?).
Population: 8,400 (Zemljopisni atlas Republike Hrvatske", Školska knjiga, Zagreb 1993).

From <www.glasila.hr>: Odluka o opisu i uporabi grba i zastave Grada Ludbrega, 22. prosinca 1999. Službeni vjesnik Varaždinske županije, br. 1/00, 11. veljace 2000.
The decision describes the Coat of Arms and flag, the procedures and occasions for using them are described, it is determined how the grant for use is to be given and so on as usual with Croatian decisions of this type.
The description of the flag does not mention that the Coat of Arms in the middle is bordered yellow. As  have personally seen in use in Ludbreg all the flags have the yellow border around the Coat of Arms. The decision claims that this Coat of Arms is the traditional Coat of Arms of Ludbreg.
The decision invaildates a previous decision from 1991 quoted as Odluka o opisu i uporabi grba i zastave Opcine Ludbreg, Službeni vjesnik, br, 63/91. There is no reason to think that the 1991 would have the symbols
defined in any other way, though.

Unlike the previous 2001 and 2006 Statutes, the new 2009 Statutes now includes the description of the Coat of Arms and the flag, quite straightforward (still not mentioning the border around the Coat of Arms): Statut Grada Ludbrega, 14.07.2009, Službeni vjesnik Varaždinske županije, br. 23/2009, 16.07.2009.
The Coffee Hag album "Grbovi Jugoslavije" by Emilij Laszowski shows almost to the detail the same Coat of Arms, with note that it is based on an 1850 seal.
