Overview

Vrlika is a city in the Splita and Dalmatia County, about 70 km northeast of Split, 2,700 inhabitants, some 1,000 in the town of the same name. The city was much ruined in the occupation 1991-95. The communiyt was formed by secession from Sinj with the subdivision reorganization of Croatia in 1993, and it was given a city status in 1997.
The coat of arms of Vrlika is: gules a ruined church argent massoned sable. It is the church of St. Salvador (Sv. Spas), originating from 9th century, with the oldest remaining belfry in Croatia witnessing the Frankish influence on the Christianization of Croats. Almost identical coat of arms picturing the same church (azure a ruined church or) is used by neighbouring community of Kijevo.
The flag is white with the coat of arms in the middle.
The data on the symbols is unavailable. The flag is based on a photo on the community site <www.vrlika.hr> but there is it shown wound around a staff, so it may also be of limited reliabilty, and may need confirmation.
