The city of Katela is actually an aglomeration of seven
smaller towns along the coast just north of Split, each being
named Kael with an additional attribute (Katel means,
of course, castle or fort, Katela is the plural form).
The communities of Split, Solin and Katela formed the Civic
Assembly of Communities of Split (Gradska zajednica opcina Split)
until 1993. The emblem of the community of Katela was
adopted some time in 1970's, and is basically the same as the one
used nowdays (with the five-pointed star instead of the chequy
shield at the top, most probably).
The emblem used nowdays is within a square frame a tower form
whose central part is composed of seven different towers.
The flag of Katela is vertical, blue with the emblem in the
middle and the name of the city below in two lines "GRAD
KATELA". Most probably nither the emblem nor the flag
are approved by the Ministry of Administration.

The official
web site of the city includes the Statutes (undated!
published to the web on 01/13/2007).
The article 6 described the "coat of arms" as
rectangular shaped in the original size of 80×90 mm, containing
seven stylized towers (castles) in its central part, as the
symbol of Katela, and the base and sylized waves beneath
where word KATELA is inscribed in capitals and with
stylized roof above the central tower, as the symbol of the City
and with the historical national coat of arms beneath (!) the
roof. It is sad to be surrounded with "white Gothic
squares" and is defined to be produced golden on the white
background.
The flag is not described and is left for a separate decision.
In spite of the mentioned Gothic squares and the national coat of
arms "beneath" the roof, the official gazettes use the
"coat of arms" of Katel indeed in the shape we
show it here, as could be seen from the official
gazettes headears.
