Tisno is a community in the Sibenik-Knin County, some 20 km
noth of ibenik, situated on
both coasts of a narrow chanel between the coast and Murther
island with a risable bridge between. The name itself means more
or less "narrow place". The coat of arms of
Tisno is azure over a sword argent hilted or feswise pointing to
sinister a cloak gules. The charges refer to St. Martin.

On the flag I have no info, I suspect that it may be dark blue
with the Coat of Arms in the middle (judging from the background
of the road sign), but a confirmation should be obtained before I
draw it.

Updates from official gazette:
- Odluka o grbu i zastavi Opcine Tisno, 09.03.2001, Slubeni
vjesnik ibensko-kninske upanije, br. 13/01,
31.10.2001. Rjeenje o odobrenju grba i zastave Opcini
Tisno, 25.06.2001, Slubeni vjesnik ibensko-kninske
upanije, br. 13/01, 31.10.2001. - The decision adopts the
coat of arms, the flag and the ceremonial flag of Tisno. The coat
of arms is as described above: azure over a sword argent hilted
or feswise pointing to sinister a cloak gules, and it is also
stated that these are attributes of St. Martin. The flag is in
ratio 1:2, blue with the coat of arms bordered golden-yellow in
the middle. The ceremonial flag is gonfalon in dimensions 80x160
cm, dark blue, bordered golden and with golden fringe along the
bottom. In the middle is the coat of arms and below it are golden
ornaments of olive and vine branches. Above is inscripotion
"OPCINA TISNO" in golden.
- The act of the Ministry of Justice, Administration and Local
Self- Government, kl. UP/I-017-01/01/69,urbr. 514-09-01-01-2,
approves the decision. It may be interesting to note that this
act does not include the wording that "the previous
deficiencies has beer corrected" which seems to be more or
less standard part of these acts otherwise, one may presume that
the design was acceptable by the Ministry standards right from
the begining.
- Statut Opcine Tisno, 05.10.2001, Slubeni vjesnik
ibensko-kninske upanije, br. 15/01, 21.11.2001.- The
new Statutes include the description of the coat of arms and the
flag as previously determined.

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic
Art d.o.o. from Rijeka.

The community
web site includes page on the coat of arms and the flag,
however, what is presented there is partially different to what I
claim. Namely, the first 3 paragraphs on the page are supposedly
quoted from some decision issued in 1998 in (unspecified number
of) the official gazette: Statutarna odluka o grbu i zastavi
Opcine Tisno, 10.11.1998. godine, Slubeni vjesnik
ibensko-kninske upanije.
I have been looking all over the 1998 and 1999 county official
gazettes, but I have not found it...
In any case, the quotation therefore does not include any
description, so even if it was adopted, it may well be that by it
only the provision to the Statutes were added regarding the
possibility of the coat of arms and the flag.
As we have it here, the decision on the symbols was finally
adopted in 2001, based on it the Ministry issued the approval and
the 2001 Statutes were amended to include the description. So, I
would say that this 1998 claim is some error or some other
unpublished decision
The last paragraph of the abovementioned page including the
drawing, is copied directly from my FAME pages
(includes the same image as here and part of the same text - the
coat of arms description, in Croatian).

The new
Statutes of Tisno, repeating the description of the coat of
arms and the flag as in the previous Statutes: Statut Opcine
Tisno, 07.08.2009, Slubeni vjesnik ibensko-kninske
upanije, br. 11/09, 10.09.2009. str. 33.
