Overview

Primošten is a community on the coast of the Šibenik-Knin County, some 15 km south of Šibenik. Total population 5,000, some 1,700 in the town of the same name. Primošten is an old pitoresque little town built over small illets just of the coast, connected with a single brigde with it (as the name sates, as "primosten2 wouldmean more or less "bridged over").
Information I received from Željko Pavasovic, webmaster of the site <www.primosten.hr> in 2002. The symbols were adopted in 1999, however I have no further details.
The Coat of Arms pictures in a blue shield a statue of the Black Madonna surrounded with seven eight-pointed golden stars. The stars represent the severn islets on which Primošten is built. The Black Madonna with the Child is a statue that alegedly protects Prmošten from various disasters.
The flag is blue with the yellow bordered coat of arms in the middle.
The Ceremonial Flag is vertically hoisted banner with the fly ending triangulary containing the coat of arms below the name of the community. Under the coat of arms are fig and olive branches and a bunch of grapes.

Updates from official gazette:
- Odluka o opisu i uporabi grba i zastave Opcine Primošten, 26.10.2000, Službeni vjesnik Šibensko-kninske županije, br. 9/00, 14.11.2000. - The decision determines the design and usage of the coat of arms and the flag. The depiction of the Madonna is named Madonna of Loretto (Gospa od Loreta) and is stated that it has been revered in these regions since 18th century and is preserved in the central chruch of St. George (Sv. Juraj) in Primošte. The ceremonial flag is not named in the decision but is pictured together with the coat of arms and the flag in the gazette.
- Rješenje o odobrenju uporabe grba Opcini Primošten, Ministartsvo pravosuda, uprave i lokalne samouprave, kl. UP/I-017-02/00-01/4,urbr. 514-09-01-01-3, 30.03.2001, Službeni vjesnik Šibensko-kninske županije, br. 5/01, 21.05.2001. - The act of the Ministry of Justice, Administration and Local Self- Government, kl. UP/I-017-02/00-01/4,urbr. 514-09-01-01-3, approves the decision of 2000.
The ceremonial flag shown in the gazette is complicated and a simplified design of the ceremonial flag is used for table flags. The table flag is nowhere prescribed but it is probably more often seen then the ceremonial flag that is "locked up" in the assembly hall.

Coat of Arms and flag were designed by Heraldic Art d.o.o from Rijeka and approved by the Ministry of Administration/Central State Office for Administration before 2006.
