Overview

The coat of arms of Pirovac is azure St. George stantant holding a sword and a shield stantant in a doorway argent. St. George is the patron of the city and the portal is the one still preserved in the city walls. The flag is blue with the yellow bordered coat of arms in the middle. The ceremonial flag is a blue gonfalon bordered yellow with three triangualry ending tails and yellow fringe along the bottom. In the middle is the yellow bordered coat of arms, topped with the arched inscription of the name of the community and the tails are ornamented with an olive, a vine and a fig branches each.
The coat of arms originally adopted in 1990's included also a green dragon beneath the protal, but this was refuzed by the Ministry of Administration.
Adopted: 10th November 2003
The community of Pirovac seceeded from the community of Tisno in 1997.

From the official gazette:
Statutarna odluka o uporabi grbu i zastavi Opcine Pirovac, 10.11.2003, Službeni vjesnik Šibensko-kninske županije, br. 11/03, 15.12.2003. Rješenje o odobrenju grba i zastave Opcini Pirovac, 25.09.2003, Službeni vjesnik Šibensko-kninske županije, br. 11/03, 15.12.2003. Odluka o mjerilima za odobravanje uporabe grba i zastave Opcine Pirovac, 10.11.2003, Službeni vjesnik Šibensko-kninske županije, br. 11/03, 15.12.2003.   - This gives further details regarding legislation. The decision includes nice drawings of the Coat of Arms, flag and the ceremonial flag (although the ceremonial flag is not explicitly mentioned in the text of the decision, as we already know this is not at all unusual case).
The act of the Ministry of Justice, Administration and Local Self- Government, kl. UP/I-017-01/98-01/1157,urbr. 514-09-01-03-4, approves the decision. It may be interesting to mention that the acts of Ministry for Ružic and Pirovac are dated on the same day. Presumably these decisions are made in "batches" when the appropriate commission have sessions.
The other decision determines the rules and procedures of the grant of use of the coat of arms and the flag
