Oriovac is a community in the Slavonski Brod-Posavina County,
about 20 km west of Slavonski Brod
along the highway Zagreb-Brod. Population just under 7,000 with
about 2,000 of them living in the place of the same name. The
nearby marshes has been transformed into the fish pools long ago.
Today most famous by the industry "Oriolik" producing
furniture and polyurethane products.
I have for some time a photocopy of the Coat of
Arms from some document dated June 2004, but missing the info
on colours. On <www.oriovac.hr>
I found a coloured image that enables me a decently reliable
drawing. The coat of arms of Oriovac is: gules a crane argent
holding a walnut or. The crane refers to the marshy regions along
Sava river, nowdays the fish pools, and the walnut may be
reference to the origin of the place name (walnut = orah in
Croatian) as well as to the furniture industry by which Oriovac
is famous. So far, no info on flag itself.

Tomislav ipek located some further info on the
flag of Oriovac. On the web site of the community at <www.oriovac.hr> one can see
among other photos a photo of (presumably) the mayor with table
flags in front of him. The photo is small, but it is clear that
one of the flags is the table flag (based on the ceremonial flag)
of Oriovac. This is red with the coat of arms, inscription and
porbably some aditional ornaments (not visible on the photo).
This would mean that the flag of Oriovac is (highly probable) red
with the coat of arms in the middle bordered yellow.

Coat of Arms and flag designed by Heraldic Art d.o.o from
Rijeka and approved by the Ministry of Administration/Central
State Office for Administration before 2006.

Tomislav ipek located now more data at the community web site.
The flag is dark red (bordeaux) with the coat of arms bordered
golden in the centre of it.
The ceremonial flag is a gonfalon ending
triangularly and with golden fringe along the bottom, the golden
bordered coat of arms in the middle, the name of the community in
two arches above and a branch of vine and three stalks of mais
ornamenting the arms below.
To the symbolic I already described, one should add that a crane
holding a stone is a heraldic image of vigilance (although in
classical heraldic depicting it holds a stone) - it refers to the
history of Oriovac, where the sentries towards the Ottoman empire
were held for centuries.
I have not located the decision on the adoption of these symbols,
but the official
gazette of the county includes a new statutes of Oriovac
where the coat of arms and the flag are described. Statut Opcine
Oriovac, 14.07.2009, Slubeni vjesnik Brodsko-posavske
upanije, br. 10/2009, 29.07.2009. pp. 1325-1339.
