The community of Marcana is in the Istria County, about 15 km
north-east of Pula. Just under 4,000
inhabitants, some 1,000 in the town of the same name.
The coat of arms is shown for quite some time on various sites,
and now also on the community
web site. However, its status is unkown and possibly still
unapproved by the central authorities.
It is allegedly the historical coat of arms of the old fortified
town of Mutvoran around which the modern community developed.
Such coat of arms (in differently shaped shield and without the
wreath, and without indication of colours) is preserved as stone
carving above the gates to Mutvoran.
The coat of arms of Marcana is tierced in bend azure, argent and
vert. It is surrounded with a golden laurel wreath.

On Croatian Televisions evening news (HRT 1 Dnevnik) on 25
January 2009, there was shown a report from Marcana, where the
community flag was cleary to be seen flying.
The flag is light blue with the shield of the coat of arms in the
middle bordered white.
The argent bend of the coat of arms is made of a metallic shiny
material, while the surrounding broder is simply white. The
laurel leaves that are otherwise used to ornament the coat of
arms are not used on the flag (this may have been done to satisfy
the central authorities that require historical coat of arms is
adopted as municipal coat of arms as shield and its contents only
- omitting all the ornamentations outside the shield).
