The community of Kamanje is in the Karlovac County some 30 km
NW of Karlovac where the river Kupa
at its north edge makes its last kilometers where it forms the
border towards Slovenia and where it turns inland into Croatia.
Kamanje is among the youngest communities in Croatia formed by a
minor administrative reform in 2003 seceeding from the community
of akanje.
The Coat of Arms Kamanje is: or a conjoined
double bendlet wavy azure in the cheif a neolitic vase between a
mulet and a crescent increscent and in the base seven lozenges
one between sinsiter three in bend dexter three in bend sinistre
all also azure.
The neoloitic vase is found in a cave in Kamanje, the wavy bends
symbolize the river Kupa while the star and crescent are
traditional part of the coats of arms in the region. The severn
lozenges stand for the seven setlements of the community.
The flag is blue with the coat of arms in the middle. Ratio 1:2.

It may be of interest to see the actual Neolithic vase
depicted on the coat of arms at <www.kamanje.hr>.
According to the page, the vase was found in the cave named
Vrlovci in Kamanje, dated 2500 BCE, preserved from the so called
Lasinja Neolithic culture, about 9 cm in height.
The new 2009
Statutes (Statut Opcine Kamanje, 14.07.2009, Glasnik opcine
Kamanje 03/2009) include the description of the coat of arms and
the flag in the same manner as it was described in the 2004
decision on their adoption. The previous 2005 Statutes might have
included them as well (Glasnik Opcine Kamanje, 13/2005).
The 2004 decision (Odluka o zastavi i grbu opcine Kamanje,
27.08.2004. Glasnik opcine Kamanje 03/2004), I received the text
kindly from the mayor of the community, Mr. Damir Mateljan in
2005, who also informed me that such design was not well received
by the central authorities and was not approved (anyway, now it
is repeated in the Statutes). He names the author of the design
Alfred Krupa, an academic painter from Karlovac.
