Overview

Generalski Stol is a community in the Karlovac County, some 20 km southwest of Karlovac on Mrežnica river. The community has less then 4,000 inhabitants, and the main town of the same name has merly 700 inhabitants.
This unusual name of the town was given in the 17th century when it was the seat of headquarters of General of the Military Border, Vuk Krsto Frankopan (ca. 1588-1652), the father of much more known Fran Krsto Frankopan, in his campains defending from the Turks. The previously recorded name was Lipovac, derived from the word lipa meaning linden (tree), that is reflected in the newly adopted coat of arms.
The coat of arms is shown on (Un)official web pages of the community of Generalski Stol <generalski-stol.netfirms.com>. It may be blazoned: azure a chevron throughout inverted and in chief a linden leaf sliped and fruited or.
Judging from the artistic features of the design, it would surely be from the Rijeka Heraldik-art d.o.o. workshops, and then there should surely be a flag and probably also a ceremonial flag to go with it.
Unfortunately, until now, no response from the webmaster.

Tomislav Šipek located the photo of the flag of Generalski Stol at <www.generalski-stol.hr>.  The flag is dark blue with the golden bordered coat of arms in the middle.
Another interesting information could be found half way down the main page at <www.generalski-stol.hr>. I translated the main points: "In the village of Sarovo on the banks of the Dobra river more then 90% (and now even full 100%) of population is surnamed Škot (meaning, of course, a Scot, a Scotsman). It is not known how this surname came to be. An article from local newspapers about this was recently sent by a local couciller to the British embassy in Zagreb and surprisigly this resulted in presenting a Scottish flag from the Embassy. Eventually, on occasions of the birdthday of Queen Elizabeth II and the day of the community of Generalski Stol, the Scotch flag was hoisted in Sarovo next to the Croatian one.

Coat of Arms and flag were designed by Heraldic Art d.o.o from Rijeka and approved by the Ministry of Administration/Central State Office for Administration before 2006.
