Overview

Plitvic^ka jezera is a community in the Lika and Senj County, some 40 km north of Gospic', on the main state road from Zagreb towards the coast (Split), although the new highway built in the last years goes around - for a good reason. Namely, the larger part of the community is an extremely interesting National park of Plitvice lakes. The community has abut 4,500 inhabitants, of which about 30% are Serbs. It is hardly surprising that tourism is the main source of income.   The seat of administration is the town of Korenica (about 1,500 inhabitants), that was since 1970's named Titova Korenica, the attribute in the name was officially removed only in 1997 (although in practice already in 1990, both by the rebel Serb regime that held the town until 1995, and by the Croatian government).
The coat of arms of Plitvicka jezera is: over the rocks vert pouring from the chief and flanks multiple waterfalls joining in the base where on a mount also vert is standing a bear rampant gules.
The coat of arms in heraldic form pictures the Plitvice lakes with its numerous waterfalls. The bears are native of the region and also represent the protection of nature.
The flag is also in use, but details unknown for the moment.
The design of the coat of arms was made by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. from Rijeka.

The official gazette of the County reveals us how the flag look like and the details on the adoption of the symbols: Odluka o grbu i zastavi Opcine Plitvicka Jezera, 26. rujna 2008, Županijski glasnik Licko-senjske županije, br. 19/08, 23. listopad 2008.
The flag is blue with the coat of arms bordered yellow in the middle.
There is also mentioned a ceremonial flag (determined in the decision only that it is preserved in the mayor's office).
