The Album 2000 [pay00] says:

1. National Flag. CSW/-SW 2:3
Željko Heimer, 08 Oct 2001

Politikens Flagbook [rya00a] just mentions a white ensign for Warships. I wonder when the National flag is used as Millitary Ensign.
Peter Hans van den Muijzenberg, 08 Oct 2001

Recent (1995) photos of Ghanean warships show St. George cross, and national flag in canton yet French navy ship in port visit to Tema in June 1999 reports that the ghanean patrolship showed the national flag as ensign. So, I think that both can be used as naval ensign.
Armand du Payrat, 04 Apr 2001

In 1995 they flew a white ensign, in 1999 they flew a tricolor. Did they change between those dates, or are they inconsistent?

The Album 2000 [pay00] says:

2. Alternative Naval Ensign. ---/--W 5:8
British influenced white ensign with red St. George cross thoughout and with the national flag in canton. Where is this ratio from?
Željko Heimer, 08 Oct 2001

Acording to [smi75], the cross width is 1/9th of the hoist. But are the proportions really 2:3? I’d expect ≅9:15…
António Martins, 22 Feb 1998

Janes’s Fighting Ships 2000 [jfs] shows the Ghanian Navy consisting of four patrol boats, two each of two classes. The two photographs, dated 1998 and 1999, both show the white ensign with cross, one flying at the ensign staff on the stern and the other on the starboard yardarm. The electronic 2001 edition of [jfs] has two new pictures of the Ghanian Navy, both dated 2000. Again, both patrol boats are flying the white ensign.
Joe McMillan, 04 Apr 2001

The Naval Ensign is also similar to that of Britain, as are those of many Commonwealth countries, but in this case it has the proportions 2:3, and has the Ghanian flag in the canton.
Santiago Dotor, 23 Feb 2000, quoting [c2b81], page 151

According to Ultimate Pocket Flags of the World [rya97], this is the naval ensign of Ghana.
Peter Krembs, 03 Apr 2001

I have no records with that white flag reported by [rya97].

Chief of Naval Staff

According to the Album 2000 [pay00], the Chief of Naval Staff uses a 2:3 white flag with red cross thoughout with two black balls, one in 1st and one in 3rd quarter. There is, I guess, no doubt on British influence here, too.
