Presentation of the city

Verneuil-sur-Seine is a city of 15,000 inhabitants, located on the river Seine.

The name of Verneuil comes from the Gaul word verno, alder. There are more than 230 French toponyms based on verno. The Latin name of the alder, alnus, gave the French modern word aulne and only 57 toponyms, all to be found in the north of the country.

Verneuil is known for its nautical sport and recreational park, built around ponds made by backwaters of the Seine.
