Yacht Club du Rhône, founded in 1935, is based in Saint-Germain-au-Mont-d'Or, a town located north of Lyon on the river Saône. Therefore, Rhône in the name of the yacht club refers to the department of Rhône and not directly to the river Rhône.

The burgee of YCR is a triangular white flag with a cross made of two horizontal blue stripes crossing two vertical red stripes.

Yacht Club du Rhône was founded as a subsidiary of Yacht Club de l'Ile-de-France, and its flag was derived from the YCIF flag.
