The flag (image on the lugnet website) used by the Soldiers (one of the "good guys" factions of the Lego Pirates set) appears to be an adaptation of the the French ancien régime civil ensign. It even features little fleurs-de-lys in the corners!

Obviously a clear homage to the contemporary flag of Quebec also since it come from the same source.
