Description

I spent some days in Cantabria in August 2000. Most flag displays included the flags of Spain, the European Union and Cantabria. The latter was rarely shown without the coat-of-arms, even in non-official use.

Flag of Former Santander Province

The Diputación Provincial [provincial council] was an administrative body which dissappeared in the early 1980s in those Autonomous Communities which comprise only one province. Note that although the administrative body is now the Autonomous Community, the province [nowadays of Cantabria not Santander] still exists.

Antonio Gutiérrez, 18 November 1999

The Diputación Provincial (provincial council) never adopted a flag officially. I do not know if any flag was in fact used.
