Description

The crossed keys on the arms [represented by the white and yellow stripes on the flag] are the symbol of St Peter, the patron saint of the village.

Blas Delgado, 9 October 2001

A flag diagonally divided from bottom hoist to top fly, the top hoist purple and the bottom fly itself divided diagonally from mid bottom to mid fly, white over yellow. On the upper hoist a yellow sprig of watercress. Colours and sprig from the city arms, as it appears in Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website. The sprig of watercress is canting, since the city lies by the Bitlles river (or riu de Bitlles), whose name derives from Latin birlas meaning watercress.
