Description

The flag and arms of La Colilla are prescribed by a Municipal Decree issued on 12 March 2003 following adoption by the Municipal Council on 19 November 2002, and published in the provincial official gazette No. 56, 27 March 2003.

The flag is in proportions 2:3, red with a vertical stripe embattled red and white covering 1/3 of the flag lenght and six yellow stones (1 + 2 + 3) surmounted by a white star.

Coat of Arms

The coat of arms is:

"Of Spanish shape, gules on a terrace vert walls masoned or and port azure, surmonted by six rocks (1 + 2 + 3)* or surmonted by a mullet argent flanked by a hammer and a pick argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal Spanish crown."
* The text erroneusly says "3 + 2 + 1".

The stones and tools recall the quarries of La Colilla, known since the Roman times. The stone of La Colilla was used to build, inter alia, the cathedral and city walls of Ávila. The walls may recall that La Colilla, located on a hill, was a strategic place protecting the town of Ávila. The star may represent the Blessed Virgin of Sonsoles, patron saint of the region of Ávila; the Sonsoles sanctuary, located 5 km from La Colilla, is the place of a yearly pilgrimage involving all the villagers.
