Translated from <www.munimontalvo.gov.ec>:
"The flag of Canton Montalvo is made of two horizontal and parallel [sic] stripes, one [the upper stripe] blue and the other [the lower stripe] celeste. The blue stripe represents the diaphanous sky; the celeste stripe represents River Cristal, a geographic attraction and the pride of the Ecuadorians. In the center is placed a radiating sun, symbol of the fertility and the abundancy of natural resources in the canton."
