WTAG

From this webpage it is the WTAG house flag’s turn to be presented. WTAG means ‘Westfälische Transport-Aktien-Gesellschaft’ (or Westfalian
Transport Co. Ltd). Founded in 1899 by the Rhein-Westfälische Kohlensyndicate (‘Rhenish-Westfalian Coal Syndicate’), the Vereinigte Stahlwerke (‘United Steelworks’) and Hoesch to ensure inland transportation, warehousing and chartering especially for coal and ore.  Source: this website. see Catalog 73rd Auction, Nos. 1705 and 1706 of p. 19.

Planned before and realized after WWI, overseas coal and ore transportation were to become the aim of Seerederei Frigga, founded under the impulse of WTAG and other firms (1920-1993; WTAG involvement till 1970).  Source: this webpage.
Cooperation with other big (inland) players i.e. Rhenus and Findel-Stinnes led to the formation of Rhenus-WTAG (seat: Dortmund) in 1976, followed by a merger in 1984 when the acronym disappeared to the advantage of ‘Rhenus’.

On the photo a white flag with red horizontal edges bears black initials ‘W.T.A.G.’ (dots present), the white stripe taking up half of the field.

Image based on a table flag (dots absent) which was item 6624045630 on German eBay, now closed.  The other image is derived from a 1914 share offered on eBay (just closed; item 8423685705) showing the dots. (Are these dots important?  The life-size flag on the photo in Files, at least, has them.)

WTAG is said to have known an impressive number of subsidiaries or related companies – not only flag-bearing but some having a house flag closely resembling that of WTAG as well – but I do not have much information and I would have to tackle them one by one.
