The flag is red with a white lozenge touching the edges and initials in the center, with black seriffed capitals reading "JR". The caption is almost clear but there's something missing. It seems to read "J. A. Renecke", but the word is uncertain.

'J.A. Reinecke, Hamburg' according to the site of the firm, a shipping agency.
Jan Mertens, 11 Jan 2005

Wolters' See und Seefahrt (1968) has: J.A. Reinecke, Hamburg, and J.A. Reinecke GmbH., Bremen (and same flag).

J.A. Reinecke (variant)

J.A.Reinecke (variant) - The company used a red flag with a white rhomb with black serifed capital letters "JR".
(note: rhomb doesn't touch the edges)

My link to the shipping agency of the same name leads to a flag having a blue field and red initials (sans-serif).
The message on the site is rather alarming (my translation): "Since 1 January 2007 J.A. Reinicke shipping agency does no longer represent Minoan Lines, Grandi Navi Veloci and Norfolk Lines". Company seat is Bargteheide, a small place between Hamburg and Lübeck.
Biedekarken's site (still) shows the red flag.

The word "variant" in Klaus-Michael's suggests the red flag may have been an earlier version; on the other hand the current blue one may be about to be struck.
