Eder und Kuhn Schiffahrt (i.e. … Shipping) is a small German firm which for a few years operated the former Haniel push boat ‚Franz Haniel 12’ renamed ‘Hercules 12’: both partners had been company shippers.  Earlier this year the boat has been withdrawn from Duisburg based EKS and integrated into that of her owner, Imperial. This page (in German) shows a drawing of a modified Haniel flag, horizontally divided green-white-black and defaced with black initials “EKS” (no serifs):
It can be seen painted on the steering cabin, just select ‘Hercules XII’ on this page (pop-up).
Other photos of the vessel show a related emblem, bendy in shield form, here; and a flag is seen seemingly repeating the shield’s pattern. Two thirds down this page is a photo offering a better view (message of 16 Feb 2007, photo made 18 Aug 2006): A broad white descending diagonal accompanied by a green triangle (top) and a black one (bottom) bears black initials “EKS” (no serifs). See photo (15) of following page for a close-up of this flag on a flying line: images based on a flag drawing,  and a flag photo. First and second pic taken from a website maintained by Dirk Jacobs, third pic made by Jan van ‘t Verlaat.
Still needed is photographic evidence of the initialled Haniel flag, if it ever existed in the cloth.
