Meaning:
The municipality was built in 1970, when the municipalities of Grefrath and Oedt merged. Gold and silver have been taken from the coat of arms of Oedt, the red fleur-de-lis was the ensign of the Lords of Greveroide and the black cross was a symbol, that the municipality once belonged to the Archbishopric and Electorate of Köln.
