Municipality of Grefrath (Viersen county / Northrhine Westphalia)
The flags ratio is 3:5. The banners ratio is 5:2. Both have the
same pattern as the coat of arms.
Description of coat of arms:
It is a quarterly divided shield in silver (=white/ 1st and 4th quarter)
and gold (=yellow/ 2nd and 3rd quarter). According to basic rules of heraldry
the quarters are separated by a black centred cross which is superimposed
by a red fleur-de-lis.

Meaning:
The municipality was built in 1970, when the municipalities of Grefrath
and Oedt merged. Gold and silver have been taken from the coat of arms
of Oedt, the red fleur-de-lis was the ensign of the Lords of Greveroide
and the black cross was a symbol, that the municipality once belonged to
the Archbishopric and Electorate of Köln.
