Description of flag: The flags ratio is 3:5. It is a white over red horizontal bicolour with the coat of arms in the centre of the flag.

A photography of the county flag can be seen here: And, indeed, they are using a "Hissflagge" (horizontal hoisted flag) and not one of the usual vertical variants.

Description of coat of arms: The shield is divided per fess. On the chief are three silver (=white) crosses in a red field. The crossbars are broader at their ends. On the base is a light blue, rampant, double queued lion, red armed and red tongued surrounded by eight red hearts, all in a silvery(=white) field.
Meaning: The blue lion is that one of Welfen dynasty, the former rulers of the duchy of Lüneburg. About crosses and hearts I have no information.
