Samtgemeinde Himmelpforten
Samtgemeinde* Himmelpforten (Stade county; Lower Saxony).
Samtgemeinde Himmelpforten consists of the municipalities Düdenbüttel,
Engelschoff, Großenwörden, Hammah, Himmelpforten (seat).
Description of banner: The ratio is estimated 5:2. According to Hauptsatzung,
dated 22 August 1996, it is a golden banner with a double blue flank with
the coat of arms in the golden field. In fact it is easier. It is a blue-yellow-blue
vertical triband with ratio between the stripes 1:3:1. The coat of arms
is in the yellow field shifted to the top.
Description of coat of arms: The shield is divided per fess. The first
field is blue with five connected golden Gothic vaults. The vault in the
centre is slightly higher and topped by a black cross. Also topped by black
crosses are the outer vaults. The second field is green superimposed by
a white fessy, wavy line.
Meaning: The vaults are probably representing the five municipalities
being parts of the Samtgemeinde.

Himmelpforten (Samtgemeinde Himmelpforten; Stade county; Lower Saxony)
Description of banner: The ratio is estimated 15:8. It is a blue and
yellow vertical bicolour with the coat of arms shifted to the top.
Description of coat of arms: In a blue shield with a very thin silver
bordure is a golden Gothic vault. In the vault there is standing an abbess,
dressed in a silver robe and holding a golden crozier.
Meaning: The coat of arms reminds of a monastery, which had been established
at this place by nuns of Sacer Ordo Cisterciensis(SOC) about 750 years
ago. They called it porta coeli (=heaven’s gate or German: Himmelspforte).
