Altenholz municipality, Source: Kommunale
Wappenrolle Schleswig-Holstein.
Arms and flag adopted: 11 August 1980
Designed by: Richard Brandt and Lothar Leissner
Or a oak tree eradicated vert, the trunk surmounted by an inescutcheon
argent, bearing a wolf sautant sable.
The oak refers to the Dänischen Wohld, the at one time densely wooded area between the Eider and the Eckernförde Bay, but also to the old Oak Forest that gave the municipality its name ("Alte Holz" = "Old Wood", the remnants of which can still be found in the municipality. The wolf sautant was taken from the arms of the Knoop family, to represent the four manors that were incorporated into the municipality.
On a yellow field bounded at the top and bottom by narrow green stripes,
the municipal arms without shield, shifted slightly towards the hoist.
