Description of coat of arms:
Over three red chevrons in a silver (=white) field is a red wall topped
by four pinnacles filling the whole field.
Meaning:
The coat of arms was granted on 14 January 1970. It is the same like
that one of the former Amt Borgholzhausen (granted on 17 March 1938).
The city was established 1 July 1969, when the municipalities of Barnhausen,
Berghausen, Borgholzhausen, Casum, Cleve, Hamlingdorf, Holtfeld, Kleekamp,
Oldendorf, Ostbarthausen, Westbarthausen und Wichlinghausen merged.
The chevrons are the coat of arms of the counts of Ravensberg. The
wall is a symbol of a city.
