Yellow-red, adopted 20.09.1962. Parts of Beilngries and Parsberg counties were annexed to this county in 1973, but the flag was re-used by the larger (present) county, confirmed on 08.10.1974. Sources: Linder and Schmidt 2000, arms image from Stadler 1964-1972.

From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website:

The arms were granted on February 8, 1960 and confirmed on October 8, 1974. The arms are a combination of the lion of the Pfalz and the lions of the Counts of Wolfstein. The Counts of the Pfalz had many estates in the district, whereas the Counts of Wolfstein were Lords of Sulzbürg and Pyrbaum.

Literature: Stadler 1964-1971.
