Description of flag:
The flags ratio is 3:5. It is a red over yellow horizontal bicolour with the counties coat of arms shifted to the hoist.
Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (=yellow) field is a red bar superimposed with three silver (=white) anchors from that type used in masonry.
Meaning:
The red bar in the golden field is the coat of arms of the archbishops of Münster. The three anchors* are taken from the coat of arms of the lords of Zuylen (Utrecht, the Netherlands), who ruled the small dominion of Anholt in medieval times.
Authorized: 23 November 1987 by Regierungspräsident Münster.
