Number of inhabitants by 31.12. 2000: 1451. A find of a Neolithic flint hatchet has proved that people had lived in this territory in the late Stone Age. The first written trace of existence of the village is the Deed issued in 1377. The Deed describes division of possession of Duke of Opava, Mikuláš II, among his sons. Throughout centuries the village was owned by many feudal lords. From 1674 to 1773 Šilheřovice was in possession of the Jesuitical Order. In 1844 the Manor of Šilheřovice was bought by the family of Rothschild. In 1787 - 1815 von Eichendorf built a chateau on the place where originally a fortress had been located. The chateaux was built in the romantic hostorised style. Von Eichendorf also founded a park in the surroundings of the chateau. After World war I Šilheřovice was incorporated into the Czechoslovak Republic.
