The first report of the community of Vĕrovany is from the year 1131
in a document of the Olomouc archbishop Zídek. The name Vĕrovany takes
its origins from some kinds of vortices, probably whirlpools. Mineral water
springs are indeed abundant in Vĕrovany, in fact baths were also formed,
of which the first mention dates from the year 1502. Today's community
is composed of three parts: Vĕrovany, Rakodavy and Nenakonice. We have
a total of 1362 inhabitants. An eminent personage worth mentioning is the
writer Otokar Bystřina (*23.5.1861), real name Ferdinand Dostál, whose
most famous work was the
Hanáclá legenda (The Legend of Haná) (1904).
