The Parliament of the Czech Republic decided on this in the 2nd election period of 1998, decision no. 51 by the Chairman of the Parliament dated 4 June 1998 (§ 5 Law CNR no. 367/1990 Sb. About municipalities - village affairs, in its valid version and in compliance with §29 par.)3 of law no. 90/1995 Sb. About the order of discussion of the Parliament.

The flag is formed by a blue leaf with vertical red stripes with a one-quarter length leaf on the flag’s edge. On a blue field is a striding white horse, which is holding a golden whip. The red stripe is crossed by two vertical and four horizontal white stripes 1/30 of the length of the leaf wide. The relation of width to length is 2:3. The construction of the symbols and colours is as it appears on the symbol.

Metylovice Coat of Arms

[COA of Metylovice] from the Metylovice website, reported by Dov Gutterman, 25 March 2000.

This is formed by a blue-red lowered division, below a round shield. The upper section represents a striding silver horse on a blue background, holding a golden whip in its right forelimb. The lower, smaller (approximately 2:1) section of the shield is formed by a silver grid on a red background.

The horse on blue background is a symbol of “horse heaven”, as it was said in Metylovice in the era of leather boom, the golden whip is partly the emblem of the main producer of the leather industry in Metylovice partly the symbol of wealth. The silver grid on a red background symbolises the ancient patron of village agriculture St. Lawrence, who was martyred as an early Christian on a spit over a slow fire in the ancient Roman Empire in 258 AD. The church was originally consecrated to him.
