In recent years there is a tendency among Czech municipalites to adopt
a banner of arms (always a rectangle. No flag in Czechia has ratio 1:1!)
as a municipal flag. On 29 March I received a mail from Mr. Tomáš Hobl,
Kutná Hora Town clerk. According to him the flag of Kutná Hora (Středočeský
kraj) is such a banner. It is :Horizontally yellow and red, in the center
a yellow (golden) chalice under imperial golden crown "mitred" red, supported
by black Imperial eagle (single headed) and Bohemian Lion. Both animals
are standing with one foot on the white miner tools with yellow handles.
The eagle is also "ducally" crowned, but it has (so Mr. Hobl) black beak
and claws. On this site is the traditional
Coat of arms which is slightly different from description of the flag,
but it is really beautyful.
