755 inhabitants. The village lies at the foot of the Chřiby mountains about 3km from Kyjov. Its name is probably derived from an Romanic church (kostel) built at a hill outside the village. It is a St. Wenceslas´ church built between 1030 and 1050 from firebricks imported from Rome which makes it the oldest well preserved brick structure in the country. A yew older than 500 years can be found in former castle garden. There is a tradition of the Slovácko feast with an ancient custom - beating of a dragon and good possibility to visit numerous wine cellars.
