Homepage: where we learn that
"The village Vĕžnice came into being uniting the three original villages
Horní Vĕžnice (Upper Vĕžnice), Dolní Vĕžnice (Lower Vĕžnice) and Prostřední
Vĕžnice (Middle Vĕžnice). Horní and Dolní Vĕžnice were founded as a watchtower
on the main merchant road from Brno to Prague about the first half of the
13th century. The first written mention about the rise of Horní Vĕžnice
dates back to 1242, while the establishment of Prostřední Vĕžnice is first
mentioned in the contract of purchase, which belonged to Lord Hertvík Žejdlic
of Šenfeld and comes from the 16th century. Both villages were always under
the charge of Czech custodians in the past. The Bavarian colonists in the
Early Middle Ages already settled down Dolní Vĕžnice. All three villages
were a part of Polnáīs estate. The union of the villages under the same
name Vĕžnice was realized on the Councilīs request in 1925.
