The village was first mentioned in the Deed issued by Vavřinec, Bishop of Wroclav. He was the owner of the Manor of Těšín. Based on the Deed issued on 25 and 27 May 1223 he credited the Episcopal tithe from the village named Na Gemnici (Na Jamnici, being Staré Město now). Jamnice was a part of Land of Silesia, Kingdom of Bohemia. Before 1393 after construction of the Frýdek chateau a new town - Frýdek - was founded. The village Jamnice was renamed Staré Město. Frýdek was granted the mile right. This means that nobody was allowed to work in craft within a mile distance from Frýdek-Místek. Therefore, the village lost its importance.
